Eve Teasing is a term which usually involves young men annoying girls or women by making sexual innuendos against them in public or in work places. School and College gates or the street is main the target of the young men to disturb girls and women.

Eve teasing in Bangladesh has taken such a heavy toll that the education ministry has designated 13 June, 2010 to have an “Eve Teasing Protection Day”. The laws are so poorly designed that victims get almost no help from the law enforcement agencies. The victims are left feeling hopeless and helpless which leading to an increased drop-out rate of female students, underage marriages and even suicide.

Now Eve teasing is one of the main threats for Bangladesh because it is destroying the social balance. Eve teasing might seem harmless ‘fun’ to some, but gets the nerve of the victims.

It is moral duty, social obligation and legal right to fight against Eve Teasing. In this regard, the outlook of boys should be completely
changed by family members so that they behave with the young girls in
friendly and respectful manner and do not involve in violence against
them. Medias need to highlight the negative impacts of eve teasing to make the young generation conscious. The laws are quietly sitting on the papers. This should end. Police and Legal system should take stern actions against the eve-teasers and bring them to justice. ONLY THEN eve teasing can be effectively curbed down.
