Welcome to our Best USA TV of the Year 2020. I will be updating this list over the next several weeks.

I originally published this list on my Facebook page a few months ago. It soon got a few hundred “likes”. And some folks I did not even know called me and wanted to take a look at it.

So what is the deal with this TV series, the Good Place? Yes, there are spoilers below.

Leah Benson, who plays Emily, her character in the Good Place, is a writer. She’s very clever and experienced when it comes to writing and is certainly a gifted writer.

And as for the other characters that have appeared in the series, the three main ones are Adam, a Pleb; Amy, a female Citizen and Jared, a male Citizen. All of them are very nice. All of them are skilled. In fact, all of them are above average.

The “Mr. Peanutbutter” character is played by Edan Lepucki, who is probably best known for his role in the movie, the “RoboCop” movies. While playing “Mr. Peanutbutter” he also directed episodes of The Good Place.

One of the first times we meet these characters are in the season one episode, “Emily Goes Missing” where Leah Benson is referred to as a writer for the Good Place. She ends up being promoted to writer and Executive Producer, which means she’s responsible for everything that happens.

During that episode, when she is being promoted, I actually read something that Edan Lepucki had written. It was quite interesting. It discussed the challenges that writers deal with, specifically with keeping their characters realistic.

In that episode, another character named Kyle McCormick is being interviewed and Edan is an executive producer on that show. However, that’s not what the title is referring to.

If you go back and watch the first episode of The Good Place, you’ll see that Mr. Peanutbutter is talking about his reaction to the U.S. government and he states that we have a problem with writers and our portrayal of them. So the title is really referring to a problem that Mr. Peanutbutter has with writers that he has been working with. He says that we have a writer problem.

In episode one, Jared Poynter is another character. In episode four he is interviewed and he states that the United States of America needs writers, they need writers who can produce a high quality product. That’s all Jared says.

I hope that you take some time to check out these interesting characters and who they are working with on the series, as well as the producer, Edan Lepucki. But also be aware that the episode that was mentioned above is only referred to briefly in the series.
