Dhaka University (DU), the largest public university of the country, celebrated its 89th founding anniversary day with the slogan of 'Higher education to build digital Bangladesh' yesterday.
Hoisting the national flag atop different dormitories and important buildings of the university, students took out processions with banners and festoons from different residential halls from the morning. Teachers and students gathered at the Mall Chattar at about 9:30am where vice-chancellor of the DU, Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique, inaugurated the day's programme by cutting a cake.
Later, students and teachers paraded through different roads on the campus. Some enthusiastic students also hired horse carriages for a joy ride. All of them gathered at the Teacher Student Centre (TSC) auditorium at about 10.00 am. |
